Pharmacognosy is a multidisciplinary branch of pharmaceutical sciences that deals with medicinal plants, natural products and phytoconstituents. It provides knowledge of identification, isolation, extraction, standardization and evaluation of herbal drugs.

The department is equipped with modern laboratory facilities and advanced instruments that enable students to understand natural product chemistry, herbal formulations and quality control techniques.

Students receive practical exposure to medicinal plant identification, extraction methods, chromatographic techniques and herbal drug standardization while encouraging research and innovation.
